My Story

Hi everyone, I’m Kurtis with a K. I joined BMAR in January of 2015, where I was in a shelter waiting to get my ticket punched ... seriously it was avery high kill rate ... chances of my getting out of there were pretty similar to those of a snow ball in July on any pavement in Mississippi.

I know I think I’m pretty special – but what’s not to love??  I am crate/kennel trained, housetrained, current on all my shots, will soon be micro chipped and am taking all of my preventative medications for fleas, ticks and heartworms.  On top of that I walk very well on lead and know my basic commands.

In my dream home, I would get to carry my own back pack and go camping with my family.  I have no idea what "camping" really is but I've heard some of the other dogs talk about it and it sounds so cool.

Like most Akitas, with strangers I am very aloof and I am a typical alpha male -- I will run the house if you let me, but I simply cannot get the hang of a cell phone and I don’t text worth anything.  I don’t know whether that’s because I can’t spell or because it’s hard to punch keys if all you have are toenails.

Karena tells me that I do need some more obedience training.   I have been cat tested and I really believe the they are odd looking squirrels and possibly represent an alternative food group...Karena says I need to work on my manners with the little creatures.  Seriously?  Have you ever seen the way a cat looks at you when they thing you aren't looking?  Yeh.  That's what I am talking about.  Karena is really strict about no pre-emptive strikes on kitties ... I wish she would mention that to her two siamese as it appears they didn't get the memo.

Also, I would probably do best around children of 10 years or older as the little ones dart around like squirrels and make me a little nervous, especially if they get sticky on my nice fur suit.

Speaking of fur suits – as you can see from my pictures, I don’t have a heavy undercoat like an Akita.  Jury is still out but momma always said daddy was a rolling stone.  The good news is that means I don’t shed like an Akita and do a lot better in the summer if we’re going hiking or to the lake.  Look at my picture --- OMG I am so handsome.  Really.  Look at the pictures.

I am looking for a new forever home. Give me a chance to show you what a wonderful addition my protection, love and companionship can be in your family. I will be loyal and loving to my new family, let’s spend some time getting to know one another.  Call Karena and see how much fun it is to walk with me.

PLEASE CONTACT KARENA TO SCHEDULE SOME TIME TO COME AND MEET ME AND SOME OF MY FRIENDS HERE AT BLUE MOON RESCUE. You can reach her at this e-mail:
